New Year Donation Blocks

I am making some donation blocks, but not as many as I had hoped so far this month. I am still working through the dregs of my box of 2.5″ squares and that is uninteresting. It will be good to get the dregs out of my life, though, so I am determined.

These are really different from those I made earlier in the month.

  1. Maybe try something interesting within the block…. when making similar blocks I have done a diagonal of one color from left to right / top to bottom… When those blocks are hooked together they draw the eye across the quilt. Our guild also will do something like put same colors in corners … usually yellow or gold … If we add sashing to those quilts we also put yellow squares / corner stones on the sashing to make a secondary pattern in the quilts.

    Just a thought

    1. We can do whatever we want with the blocks as long as they end up as quilts eventually. Have you seen the Cutting Corners donation quilt (https://www.artquiltmaker.com/blog/2016/12/cutting-corners-donation-quilt-progress/ )? My current issue is that I am using the dregs of my donation patch bin and I am not thrilled with the colors. Still, once I get through these, I get to cut up a whole bunch more and life will be better. Great ideas, though and I will keep them in mind. Thanks for reading.
