I had a box of quilt \u2018dreg\u2019 ends. Dreg is an ugly word as it conjures an image of grounds in an empty coffee cup or discarded tea leaves. What I had were, simply, pieces and parts that don\u2019t have an immediate need or use. Most were the edges cut off of quilts after squaring up. Some were quite large. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/2017\/03\/ends-donation-top\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">For some reason, in 2017<\/a>, I decided to go through the box in which they were stored. Top\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<p>When I make these quilts, I have to add a background or constant fabric to each quilt as there isn&#8217;t enough fabric in the leftover edges to make much of anything without it.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, I have gone through that hidden, out of sight box. I have found all of my quilt edges and am working through them to make tops that will keep someone warm and happy. The thing is that I keep getting edges back. They tend to accumulate, which means I have a constant supply to I can make more of these quilts.<\/p>\n<p>It is fun to try and make something appealing from these scraps.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-2' I don&#8217;t, as you know, enjoy making log cabin quilts. I decided I needed to contribute in a meaningful way and decided to put some Ends quilts together.
