These quilts were inspired by a lot of things. First were novelty fabrics, which I struggle to use. Also, I liked the idea of machine applique’ which was a technique that became available to me after I bought my Janome Memory Craft 9000.<\/p>\n

Her Eyes were Bigger Than her Stomach<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Her Eyes Were Bigger Than Her Stomach –<\/strong> This quilt top, started in January 1996, is the first in a series of improvisational collaborations with Jeanne Neptune of Seattle. First in a series of ‘She’ quilts. It based on fabrics with food motifs. The piece is machine pieced, machine appliqued and made from commercial fabrics. It was basted with Stitch Witchery. (Started 1996) Collection of the artists (jointly owned) <\/p>\n

She Had to Have Her Latte – 1999<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

She Had to Have Her Latte <\/strong>– This is the second in the series. There are many fewer novelty fabrics than the previous one in the series, though still fewer than later quilts.<\/p>\n

The Tarts Come to Tea – finished July 2022<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Tarts Come to Tea<\/strong> – started in 2007 and finished in 2023.

He Tried to Make it Up to Her<\/strong> – I mourn the loss of this quilt. I asked TFQ to send it to me so I could finish it, but she never did and I am guessing it was given away. I think this was one of the best of the lot and I still consider remaking it.<\/p>\n

Collaboration with Jeanne Neptune. Part of the ‘She’ series. Fusing, improvisational machine piecing and machine applique. Drawings of flowers and vases done by Jaye Lapachet. (Started in 2000)<\/p>\n
