I am happy with the front cover and the overall look of the piece. I am not happy overall. There are small seams close to the edges and that makes pressing the edges into a crisp line. It also makes it hard to sew the edges closed.<\/p>\n<p>I tried a lot of things when I made the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/2015\/03\/orange-crush-journal-cover\/\" target=\"_blank\">Orange Crush Journal Cover<\/a> and I guess I wasn&#8217;t thinking about the things I learned. I drifted back to small pieces and put them too close to the edge.<\/p>\n<p>Sewing is like that. It takes awhile to get things down and in the case of mosaic piecing there is some reliance on the size of the available scraps.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29350\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29350\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSCN0526sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-29350\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSCN0526sm-300x187.jpg\" alt=\"Pinkalicious Open Back\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSCN0526sm-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/DSCN0526sm.jpg 981w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29350\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pinkalicious Open Back<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fortunately, these journal covers are a good way to practice <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/2008\/07\/mosaic-quiltmaking\/\" target=\"_blank\">mosaic piecing<\/a> and a great leaders and enders project.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know what the perfect mosaic pieced journal cover is.
