I want him to have one as well. Almost as soon as I finished the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/2017\/11\/cosmic-wonder-dust-scarf-complete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cosmic Wonder Dust scarf<\/a>, I started his.<\/p>\n<p>He thought the Madeleine Tosh yarn was a little rough (he is very kinesthetic and also very tuned into the way things feel). At PIQF, I bought some wool and silk yarn from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.threadsandewe.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thread and Ewe<\/a>. It is Avalon yarn by Round Table Yarns &#8211; 50% superwash merino and 50% silk, DK weight. Even though I was annoyed at the &#8220;DK weight&#8221; &#8211; clearly designed for experienced knitters &#8211; I was eager to try it out.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_38688\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38688\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/wp-1509805236884..jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-38688\" src=\"http:\/\/www.artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/wp-1509805236884.-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Starting the Knight Scarf\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/wp-1509805236884.-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/wp-1509805236884.-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/wp-1509805236884.-1200x1600.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 85vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-38688\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Starting the Knight Scarf<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The fibers are not as tightly wound (spun???) together, so I have to be careful not to knit only part of the strand as I progress along the row.<\/p>\n<p>Like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artquiltmaker.com\/blog\/2017\/07\/another-scarf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Monarch <\/a>scarf, this yarn is slippy, so the stitches tend to slide off the needles if I am not careful. While I cast on to straight needles, I am knitting with some circular needles and the line between them is a bit short, so I have to be careful.<\/p>\n<p>I really hope this yarn is soft enough for the YM.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My knitting needles were barely cold before I cast on a scarf for the YM.
