If I haven’t done enough sewing this month, I blame my mom. 😉 I spent an entire day clearing out one of my mom’s storage units and consolidating all of her stuff into one unit. It was even stuffed, but I made her promise not to enter it after an earthquake. There are some teetering piles at the back.
The Saturday started at 6:30am. I got up, packed lunches for us all and went to get my sister from the airport. She lives in Portland so it is a short flight, but still makes for a long day. We drove 2 hours out to the storage facility. Mom was already there doing….something. We aren’t sure what. We looked in all the boxes, found most of the stuff she wanted and cleared out enough stuff to save her some money every month.
Then we drove back to the Bay Area, another two hours, got Lil Sissy some In ‘n Out (IYKYK) and took her to the airport. It was a long day and I was tired and sore the next day. I did a good deed, but that meant no sewing.

All the WIPs
WIPs are projects on which I am working. This means that I am past the cutting out of pieces stage, some sewing has taken place.
- Country Revival – I am well into piecing. I have done some trimming and have Flower #3 sewn together. Flower #4 is the next to cut.
- Four Patch Fun – putting two quilts together for a friend’s grandchildren
- La Passacaglia – I decided to change the border, which means moving a couple of the rosettes. Daunting so I haven’t worked on it.
- Pantone Project – it has been more than a year (where does time go?) since I worked on this. I need to get back to it.
Cut Out & Stopped

- EPPic – This is all cut out and I have made tiny steps towards starting. This is on the guild UFO Challenge list.
- Rose Petrillo bag – I found the pieces for this bag cut out, but not sewn. This is on the guild UFO Challenge list.
Still UFOs
I still have UFOs. Who doesn’t, after all? A project in the ‘UFO’ category means I am stalled, it hasn’t been worked on in awhile or it is waiting its turn to be worked on. The list is a lot shorter and the projects are newer, for the most part.
I am annoyed that some of these are still UFOs.
- Self Portrait: started in 2006 at a class at Quilting Adventures in Richmond, Virginia. After a brief burst of inspiration, I am stalled on this again. As one of my oldest (I am pretty sure) UFOs, I put it on my blog and out into the Twitterverse and Diane suggested that I not consider this as a self portrait. I think that strategy is a great idea. I am now trying to think of a new persona for her.
- Serendipity Lady – I am still planning to take this piece to be framed. It might need a bit of quilting first.
- Fabric of the Year 2020
- Fabric of the Year 2021 – I may combine 2020 and 2021 into a COVID edition.
- Fabric of the Year 2022 – yes, I added this one to the list, but this is the last one I plan to do.
