Advertising

Thank you for your interest in advertising on Artquiltmaker.com. I get a respectable number of hits every month. I provide fresh content regularly which keeps my readers coming back for more. In general, I do not add links to posts older than a few months unless there is a very good reason.

In terms of advertising, there is no free lunch. Your proposed advertisement and your company must fit in with the primary content of this blog. If you want an advertisement in the sidebar, the rates (in advance) are:

  • $100 a month for text ads for bloggers/artists/writers.  $350 a month for text ads for businesses.
  • $550 for the next Various & Sundry post sponsorship.
  • $600-$2000 for graphic ads.

We do not advertise weapons, tobacco or drugs of any kind for any reason. Please send the URL of an advertisement on a similar website for me to review with your inquiry.

If you would like to use a photo, prices are:

  • $50 per week for 1 photo
  • Longer uses can be arranged. Please send a proposal, including the price you are offering, and a mock-up of the page on which you want to use my photo and a link to the photo you want to use. Once we agree, only minor changes to the page are allowed or we have to renegotiate and you cannot alter my photo.

I am an Amazon affiliate. You know when I post an affiliate link because there are always two asterisks after the product name. The product name will be linked to an entry on Amazon. I will also include a notice at the bottom that says something like:

“**N. B. : Obviously, you should shop at local quilt shops and small businesses. However, if you are too busy or can’t find what you need there, I use Amazon affiliate links and may be paid for your purchase of an item when you click on an item’s link in my post. There is no additional cost to you for clicking or purchasing items I recommend. I appreciate your clicks and purchases as it helps support this blog.”

I do not personally share your name or contact info with anyone else or any company.

Reposting

You may repost if you only use a link to that takes your readers directly to my site. You may not cut and paste my words except for a short (1-2 sentences) quote. If you quote me, please link back to the exact psot from which the quote was taken. You may only repost teasers to my posts (a few words). Feel free to use deep links to send your readers directly to specific posts. A link back to my blog (artquiltmaker.com/blog) is a must on any reposting! Please contact me for permission if you are planning to do something else.

Comments

Thank you for reading and commenting. I love your comments! Please comment in English or German. If your comment seems to be spam it will be deleted. I don’t have any experience I can share for your college papers or how to get more traffic to your site. I don’t really appreciate being called ‘dude’ by people I don’t know nor do I want to engage with your pharmaceutical services. Sorry, but sometimes, it is hard to tell what is spam and what is real. Also, if your comment is really mean, I will probably delete it and not respond. Anything illegal or threatening will be referred to the appropriate law enforcement agency. Often one word comments will be sent to the spam filter. It has a mind of its own.

I do my best to respond to comments. Don’t think I am ignoring you if I don’t respond to your comment immediately. I read them all. I just don’t have a team of social media mavens at my disposal to respond to everything.

Giveaways

Mostly I don’t do giveaways. I just don’t have the time to jump through the hoops. However, the mood might strike me to do a giveaway and then I will. If you have something you really want me to giveaway on my blog, please refer to the advertising section above and then email me so we can talk about your ideas.  Know that if I do a giveaway, it will involve substantive comments and I will ask you to send the items directly to the winners.

What I Write
I write what I like on my own schedule. If there is something you think I should write about, let me know and I’ll consider it, but I won’t promise.

I will not take down posts unless there is a very good reason to do so. I usually try to resolve and issue or figure out a problem one-on-one, but if that proves fruitless, I may write a blog post about it. If I review a product negatively or I comment on your poor customer service and you don’t agree, write your own post. If you are the manufacturer or owner, your decline in business is not a good enough reason for me to remove my post. I do always try to be fair and kind.

Book Reviews

I love writing book reviews and you can read most of my quilt, creativity and art related book reviews on this blog. If you send me a book to review THANKS!! I appreciate your faith in my abilities. Books to review must related to the content of this blog. I probably will not review any X rated or self help books. They are just not my thing.  😉 Know that, since I have a life and you are probably not paying me, I may not be able to write a review on your schedule. Also, keep in mind that I will give my honest review even if you send me the books for free. I try VERY hard to be constructive if I criticize. I also try not to be mean. Writers, publishers and booksellers work hard at their jobs and I greatly appreciate the hard work and attention to detail that goes into putting a book together.

If you are kind enough to send me a book to review, note that I that have a large collection of quilt books to which I am constantly referring. If you want me to do a giveaway, you should,  please, send 2 copies. I love books and, unless you send me two copies, I may not want to let your fabulous work go. 😉

  1. Hi, Jaye: Thank you for the quilt block you sent for the Princeton Public Library’s building fund and Project Linus. Love it–so dynamic. Your blog is amazing and I’m guessing a wonderful reflection of you and your creative energy! Just noticed that your “business card” is on fabric–how perfect. Also love that you recycle (your address is on a ME calendar sheet. She’s one of my favorites!) Happy Summer, Vicki
