Thinking about Jump Rope

I never really liked the Katie Jump Rope fabrics by Denyse Schmidt. However, since looking at the Denyse Schmidt pool on Flickr, I have a new appreciate for the group. These ribbon prints have, especially been growing on me.

One of the things I realized is that I like seeing the entire of line of something, but that I have to be careful and remember that I don’t need to buy or use the entire line. I should, also, take designs/pieces from an entire line and look at them together without all the others.

The people in the Denyse Schmidt pool are really creative and I am enjoying looking through what they are making.

  1. Yeah, I’ve been lukewarm about a lot of the collections coming out of Free Spirit lately. Now imagine you have to stock a shop with fabric and feel the freak-out begin to happen (start at “no business loan” and end at “you have only sixty days to pay it off”)…
And people have the nerve to suggest I consume too much Xanax. Bah! Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful. Type soon. C

  2. Not sure about all of the collections, but I really liked Flea Market Fancy and these prints (the ribbon motifs) fit in with the FMF. I didn’t like most of the Katie Jump Rope. I think that Free Spirit must be getting too much into the 1960s prints. You know how there is an ideal of an era that becomes popular? I think we are past that with the 1960s now and companies are trying to stay with what’s popular, but not copy someone else. I think that they are looking at creativity.
