You got a sneak peek of Gelato #2  the other day. I showed that I had finished this quilt in the January 26 Projects list.

This was a great quilt to finish, because I’ll be really happy to see how the recipient likes it. 

I think I am calling this quilt Gelato, because of the style in which I pieced the first one, but more because of the name of the fabric I used for the first quilt.

The back is pretty wild, but I also like how cheerful it is. This is what happens when I pull out all of my backing fabrics and pull out ones I haven’t seen in awhile.

I’ll be sending it off to it’s new home soon.

I was surprised to get get Gelato #2 back so quickly, but also pleased. I got it back at the same time I got Triumphant back. I was surprised and really pleased to get it back so quickly as I only took to Colleen about a month ago. I think it was easier to quilt than Old Town and will definitely be easier to quilt than Patchwork Palooza.

I have a sick friend who is going to be the recipient of the quilt.

I am in the process of binding it now so I can send it off to her ASAP. 

Gelato Finally Arrived

After much drama, Gelato finally arrived in Switzerland. My friend had to go pick it up and pay duty despite me sending it as a gift. I always have problems with Swiss customs.

Right now it is resting after spending 4 months folded up in a box.

My friend says he will probably frame it and hang it in his living room. I can’t wait to see it when I go back to visit.

After months of not sewing down the binding, Gelato is finally done. Catching up with La Pass really propelled my quiltmaking forward. I was able to finish a bunch of projects that need a bit of hand sewing and I got to work on the Half Hexie Star project.

I got this quilt back in the middle of last year, then I got a job and the giant puzzle and La Pass and my schedule went to hell in a handbasket. I enjoy stitching down the binding. It is very satisfying.

Now it is finished. Hooray! DH held it up for me so I could take some photographs. Writing about it here really makes it done in my mind.

I originally made this quilt for my niece, thus the Chrysanthemum back. I think I will give it to a friend who has recently had his leg amputated below the knee. He had an accident about 10 years ago. After multiple surgeries and infections, he decided (and is at peace with) on this course. He will appreciate the front and the thought, I think and won’t mind the flowers. We’ll see.
