Wow, that is a really really effective border! I’m glad they did such an unusual one, it makes the whole quilt stand out from the crowd.
I think it is, too and my mind is spinning about what other blocks could be used to create that light and airy feel.
I wonder what it would be like with the Geese flying towards the center? Glad you posted a photo of the whole thing!

I think it depends on the look you want. I look at this and see the triangles as a kind of airy border. When I read what you are imagining, I see (in my mind) the triangles being more part of the design of the quilt rather than a border.
