Commentary about works in progress, design & creativity
Wayne Thiebaud said in a City Arts and Lectures * show, and I am totally paraphrasing, that he did his work and he would let history judge whether he was an artist or not. I have decided to take that tact as it makes me uncomfortable to say that I am an artist. As a … Continue reading “A Little New Work”
The fabric from Quilt Expressions. St.JCN and I split an order and these are my pieces. They were fabrics which we saw in other colorways at the shops in Denver. We decided to fill out our collections with different colorways. I found some different whites as well. Fabrics from Quilting Adventures. The three along the … Continue reading “More Quick Bytes”
Need More Colors. I was thinking tonight as I stared at my Pineapple and Cross Block (Flowering Snowball) projects that there are just not enough colors in the rainbow. Each time I add a strip to the Pineapple, it seems like I have just added that color. Granted, the blues are different and they have … Continue reading “Not Enough Colors”
While buying the Pokemon Diamond game guide for the child, I couldn’t help tossing a quilt book for myself into the virtual cart. Both books arrived earlier this week. In a lame attempt to avoid work, I started reading Kaffe Fassett’s Quilt Road. The Good: gorgeous fabrics, wonderful designsThe Bad: The fabrics are only shown … Continue reading “Kaffe Fassett Confusion”

Some of them you have seen before (many times?), but I put the new fragments with them to see how the piece can get away from the murky look. I felt it was a bit murky with the chocolate in the striped fabric and that … Continue reading “A Variety of Quiltmaking”
I am still having an inordinate amount of fun making these simple blocks. What is it about them? I brought out the Accuquilt Go! cutter over the long weekend and cut a bunch of larger squares I had been saving into 2.5″ squares. All pink all the time. Yes, I am going to make a … Continue reading “Donation Blocks Galore”

In a effort to update the Catholic Church and make it more appealing to a younger audience, I think that requirements for sainthood should be eased. Sending virtually unsolicited fabric to people really should count towards the sainthood list of requirements. A nice box arrived on my doorstep on Thursday (accompanied by my taxes, which … Continue reading “Dots and Denyse Schmidt Join the Party. Fabric Leads to Sainthood”
