Finishing Aurifil

Yes, it is possible to finish a spool of Aurifil thread. I did it! I love Aurifil because of the high thread quality and the amount that can fit on a bobbin.

I first bought a bag of spools in a Kathy Sandbach machine quilting class in about 2001. I still have some of those spools, but not the grey. I have never had a problem with the thread except having a lot of colors that I don’t use.

  1. I know what you mean about finishing a spool… It does seem to take forever!
The shop that I bought my Aurora from had a special about the time I bought my machine… you buy a clear storage case and you got to pick the colors that you put in it… I had never used the thread, but I knew that I was going to need it for the embroidery, and it came highly recommended, so I bought two, each case holds thirty spools… and the gal that helped me was their thread expert… One of the best purchases I ever made besides my Bernie! It did help that I had a 40% off coupon, but it was a steal even without it….I have it split with warm colors in one and cool in the other….I’m on my third black and have gone through two bright light blues, and one green, pink and red…I have a little list of thread that I need to pick up next time I’m out there… It’s about 71 miles round trip… it’s just on the other side of town!

    1. That sounds like a wonderful idea! I would love to be able to do something like that. I can’t seem to find a store that sells the Aurifil near me. The last few spools I bought in Seattle.
